Group Terms and Conditions

Our commitment to you

  • All bed linen including duvets, sheets and pillows is provided free of charge. Please note sleeping bags cannot be used or alternative bedding.

  • Once-a-week charge of $15 will apply for a weekly wash and supply fresh linen per person.

  • Towels may be hired in advance, if required.

  • Groups with members under the age of 18 years will be roomed together and are not permitted to share with other backpackers.

  • Private rooms are available for leaders and drivers, with advance notice.

What we ask of you

  • As a group you agree to abide by Penny’s Drop Inn rules and regulation. Groups with members who are under 18 years of age require at least one adult for every ten under 18s.

  • Although our bunks are fitted with safety rails, we do not recommend top bunks for children under the age of nine and all children should be discouraged from playing on bunk beds.

Group Estimate Terms and Conditions

  • Group booking estimates are a non-binding estimated price for your group travel.

  • Availability is not guaranteed for the dates entered in your booking estimate.

  • No booking is made during the booking estimate process.

  • Prices shown are per night and based on the information provided.

Booking Terms and Conditions

  • We require your signed booking agreement to secure the quoted rates and availability.

  • A 50% deposit is due upon your acceptance of our quote.

  • All reservation requests are tentative until we have received your deposit.

  • If we have not received your deposit by the due date, we reserve the right to cancel your booking.

  • The deposit is refundable up to two months prior to your group’s arrival.

  • Final payment is due in full one month prior to your group’s arrival.

  • You must reconfirm your numbers at least one week prior to arrival by returning a completed rooming list to the hostel. We will supply you with the rooming list to complete.

Cancellations and Amendments

  • The deposit is refundable up to two months prior to your group’s arrival.

  • If you cancel within one week of arrival we will charge you for the full stay.

  • Cancellations made due to COVID-19 will receive either a full refund or full credit for use at another time. 

  • No shows will be charged in full.

  • You can decrease your numbers by up to 10% from the original booking without penalty, providing you notify us at least one week prior to arrival.

  • Any request to increase the size of your group will be accommodated, subject to availability, and the group will be charged accordingly.

  • If there are discrepancies at the time of check in:

    • We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate any new booking requirements which differ from the original group booking confirmation; although this cannot be guaranteed.

    • We are not responsible for any changes or discrepancies in booking details that are not reflected in the original booking confirmation.

Rules & Regulations

To ensure your stay is safe while at Penny’s Drop Inn.

In order, to ensure that all our guests have a memorable experience at Penny’s Drop Inn, we require you to always have consideration for others.

We welcome all travellers from around the world and requests that you interact positively with guests of all cultures who are also exploring our region - Central Otago.

We therefore prohibit the following:

  • Illegal and non-prescribed drugs

  • All weapons

  • Gambling

  • Unauthorised animals

  • Political or religious meetings

  • Entry into bedrooms or bathrooms and toilets set aside for the opposite gender

  • Smoking within the building (outside designated area for smokers)

  • Theft of other guests’ or Penny’s Drop Inn property.

  • Drunken, noisy, disorderly or abusive behaviour or physical violence

  • Damage to property

  • Discriminatory behaviour

If your behaviour is highly offensive, the Manager may require you to leave the primases immediately without a refund.

If you damage any property, we will charge your credit card for the cost of the repairs.

Should you resist the Manager’s request that you leave the hostel, we will call the Police.

 







CCTV Privacy Notice

Penny’s Drop Inn has installed a CCTV system within, as well as outside to support the safety, security and operational management for Penny’s Drop Inn guests, staff, visitors, property and assets.

What information is collected?
We have placed CCTV cameras up at several communal or public locations. These cameras may from time-to-time record images of you as you pass through the CCTV camera area. We consider this imagery to be your personal information, so we manage it in line with our privacy policy.

Where is the information stored?
The information is stored securely within Penn’s Drop Inn computer systems. Where requested by the New Zealand Police, the relevant data may be forwarded to them in support of their investigations.

What is the information used for?
The purpose of the CCTV system is to support the safety and security of all guests, staff, visitors, property and assets. The information collected may also be used when investigating complaints or incidents.

How long is the information kept?
The information is retained for no longer than necessary and is generally overwritten and therefore deleted within a few weeks.

What rights do I have to access and correct the information?
If you have been recorded by our CCTV cameras you have the right to access that information and to make any corrections, so long as it relates to you personally. The length of time that information is stored will vary so there is no guarantee that this information will still be held by Penny’s Drop Inn when you ask for access. You may not access information that does not relate to you.

How can I request access to footage?
The Manager is the best person to contact in the first instance to request access of footage related to you. They will advise of the process forward from there.
